                                      India Launches Jal Jeevan Mission 2.O 

The Jal Shakti Ministry and the state water ministers hosted a two-day National Departmental Summit on water security and infrastructure at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi on 1st and September 2, 2026 to solve Indian’s water challenges and to institutionalize a new model of cooperative federalism between the Central and States. The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti and the state leaders launched a joint roadmap for Jal Jeevan Mission 2.O. On September 1, Jal Jeevan Mission 2.O discussions focused on four key pillars-groundwater conservation, rainwater harvesting, source sustainability and long-term maintenance. On September 2, the participating states presented their actions plans and the outcome derived from the first day discussion. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired and addressed the valedictory session laying out the final national directives.

TRISHNA Satellite to Improve Climate Monitoring


ISRO and France’s CNES are jointly developing TRISHNA, a thermal-imaging Earth-observation satellite. It will monitor crop water stress, irrigation, glaciers, water resources, and urban ecosystems. The satellite will help improve climate studies and natural-resource management. Its launch is planned for 2026.

ISRO Satellite Detects Decline in Pacific Marine Productivity

ISRO’s Oceansat-3 satellite has detected a sharp decline in marine productivity across the equatorial Pacific as El Niño develops. The satellite recorded reduced levels of surface chlorophyll-a during April–June 2026, indicating lower phytoplankton growth. Scientists said weakened trade winds during El Niño reduce the upwelling of nutrient-rich water needed by marine organisms. The decline could affect the marine food chain, while experts warn that low-chlorophyll regions may become more pronounced in the coming months.

Clean shores, safe seas—together for a cleaner and healthier ocean!

New Delhi, September 14: The Government of India has launched the fifth edition of the Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar campaign. The nationwide coastal cleanliness drive is being held from September 12 to 19, 2026. Students, coastal communities and volunteers are joining beach-cleaning activities to reduce marine pollution and plastic waste. The campaign aims to promote clean beaches, safe seas and public participation in protecting India’s coastal environment.
