Every May, Cannes becomes the focal point of the world’s most renowned cinematic celebration, often characterized by red carpets, flashing cameras, and stylish attire. The 2025 Cannes Film Festival upheld its reputation for glamour and outstanding cinematic excellence. The 78th annual Cannes Film Festival, held from 13 to 24 May 2025, highlighted diversity and innovation. French actor Juliette Binoche served as jury president for the main competition. Filmmakers from regions like Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America received increased recognition. The films showcased emerging talent and marked shifts in global cinema.

India's presence at Cannes has grown, and it was named the 'Country of Honour' at the prestigious event. This event focused on India's varied culture and cinema, reflecting its status as a cinematic powerhouse, with many films produced each year. The recognition not only highlights the country's rich storytelling traditions, from Bollywood blockbusters to independent art films, but India’s contribution to the global film industry is also both vast and deeply influential. The dazzling red carpet showcased the epitome of glamour. Aishwarya Rai carried an intricately handwoven sari by a young Indian designer, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern couture.
Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt made waves in attire that honoured Indian draping styles and futuristic fashion, celebrating cultural heritage with elegance. This year, they were joined by a vibrant group of young Indian artists, making their exciting debut at Cannes and adding fresh energy to the prestigious festival. Indian stars Mrunal Thakur and Adarsh Gourav won the hearts of both the fashion critics and fans with their eco-friendly fashion choices. Neeraj Ghyawan’s Homebound was appreciated by audiences. The movie is produced by Karan Johar, and the actors are Janhvi Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, and Ishaan Khatter.
