Four new bills passed by President Droupadi Murmu.


On 12th August 2023, Saturday, the President Droupadi Murmu has given her approval to four bills passed during the monsoon session of Parliament.

These bills include the: Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, and Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill.

On August 7, the Lok Sabha passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, and on August 9, the Rajya Sabha passed it. This bill establishes requirements for private and public institutions in the gathering and processing of citizens' data.It also requires data trustees to get consent prior to processing personal data, and it provides individuals with the right to access, update, erase, transfer, and restrict their data. The bill proposes fines of up to Rs 250 crore for entities that violate or fail to secure individuals' digital data.

The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill grants the Central Government control over bureaucrat postings and transfers in Delhi. The Lok Sabha approved it on August 3 and the Rajya Sabha approved it on August 7.

On May 19, the Centre issued an ordinance establishing the National Capital Civil Service Authority to oversee the transfer and posting of officials serving the Delhi government.
With the President’s consent these bills will be declared as law and will be implemented.

India won against Malaysia in Asian Championship 2023

India faced Malaysia in Asian Hockey Championship and bagged the trophy with a close margin of 4-3.
The match took place in Radhakrishnan Stadium, Chennai, where the Indian team was met with utter support and the stadium was decorated with Indian flags throughout. 

Man Going ticketless on Vande Bharat smokes cigarette, creates chaos 


A ticketless man, who was lighting a cigarette in the ongoing journey, didn’t know there were fire alarms fixed on the flagship train, as soon as he lit the cigarette the fire alarms went off.  


This caused the passengers to panic and use the compartment's emergency phone to contact the train guard. Later, the train halted at Manubulu station, and Railway Police came and broke the washroom’s window pane. The man was found there, he was detained and the train moved ahead. 

 

 

Kerela Government wants to change the name Kerela to Kerelam 

 

The Kerela Assembly passed a decision urging the Centre to recreate Kerela as “Kerelam” in the Indian Constitution. The resolution says the name of the state in Malayalam is Kerelam. On 1st November 1956 states were shaped on the base of language. That day is also celebrated as Kerela’s founder day. This is for the Malayalam-speaking communities in Kerela which has been powerfully raised right since the days of the freedom struggle.  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan resolved.  


It was passed collectively with the Congress-led Opposition not indicating any changes.

 

AAP leader Raghav Chadha gets suspended from Rajya Sabha

Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha was blamed for ‘gross violation of breaking guidelines and rules. Raghav was suspended from the Upper House on Friday until the right committee investigates the case and submits the report to them. 


Later, he also posted a video on his Instagram handle, commenting about the incident that happened.
