Supreme Court publishes a handbook to put an end to Gender stereotypes

On August 16, 2023, the Supreme Court released a new handbook to address and stop the use of gender-stereotypical words. The directory promotes equality by suggesting alternative words that avoid reinforcing gender biases. The guide is a valuable resource for writers, journalists, educators, and anyone who wants to contribute to a more inclusive society. The glossary promotes using words like 'Woman' instead of "Career Woman, Chaste Woman, Easy virtue (e.g., a woman of easy virtue), Fallen woman, Harlot, Indian woman / western woman, Seductress, etc.". The words like 'Sex worker' will be used instead of "Prostitute, Hooker". This handbook aims to change stereotypical thinking and the use of words.

'Vikram', the ISRO Chandrayaan-3 lander, successfully moved one step closer to the Moon

On Thursday, August 17, ISRO's third lunar mission took a significant step closer to its planned August 23 soft landing on the south pole of the Moon. The Lander Module, which consists of the Pragyan rover and Vikram lander, successfully disengaged from the Propulsion Module.

ISRO said the lander will start a "deboost" procedure to reduce its speed after this separation. With this, the lander will be placed in an orbit where its closest point to the Moon (Perilune) and its farthest point (Apolune) are both 30 kilometres apart. The projected soft landing attempt on the south pole of the Moon will begin from this same setup. The Propulsion Module will continue on its existing orbital track in the meantime, gathering important scientific data over months or even years.
