Top 9 films of 2021 that you perhaps regret watching…

The Dig

The film is based on a novel written by John Preston and directed by Simon Stone. Most of the scenes and characters which we can see and read in both the movie and novel are basically inspired by true events and real people but it failed to impress.

Nayattu

This film is basically about propulsion and politics, directed by Martin Parkkat’s. This movie started out as a police drama at first but then evolved into a different beast in each and every new scene, starting from a chase thriller to a survival drama, before ending as a thoughtful satire on the country.

Coming 2 America

Coming 2 America is a well-known example of taking a successful movie and then ruining its name. The sequel of the first part which was released way back in 1988, come out with a similar storyline with some minor changes, like this time instead of coming to America to get the tress of the queen, Murphy comes to look for his son. If we compare the first part with the newly released one then there is no same humour and freshness and it’s very much predictable and boring. The film directed by Craig Brewer.

Radhe: The Most Wanted Bhai

One of the biggest releases of 2021 was Salman Khan’s Radhe: The Most Wanted Bhai has turned out to be the most unwanted movie of 2021. The story the based on Radhe, a very daredevil encounter specialist of the Mumbai Police force, who sets on a difficult and dangerous mission to break the crime syndicate, led by an evil drug lord. This story was such a mess that neither Bhai’s fandom nor Prabhudeva’s directorial skills could save it.

Hungama 2

This movie marked its maker Priyadarshan’s comeback after long eight years and it was an absolute disaster. The irrelevant comedy of errors introduces us to Aakash who is ready to marry his dad’s friend Bajaj’s daughter, all was great until his college girlfriend Vaani comes back into his life with a child whom she claimed to be his. This movie stars Meezan, Shilpa Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Pranitha Subhash.

Sardar Ka Grandson

It’s basically a comedy-drama; the story is based around an unconventional last wish of Kapoor’s grandma which insists him embark on an adventurous journey to fulfil the wish of his ailing grandma, although it failed to create a lasting impact overall. The cast of this movie is Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta and Rakul Preet Singh. The film was directed by Kaashvi Nair.

Tangra Blues

According to the title of the movie, it may sound musical but it has no way connected with the African-American genre of music. The story of this film covers a lot of ground in mapping the history of Tangra since the EM bypass construction began. The film didn’t get connected that much with the audience because this type of genre needs more exploration in the Bengali movie space although the performance of each and every actor was brilliant. The film was directed by Supriyo Sen.

Once Upon A Time In Calcutta

It captures a city in flux that’s what basically it is all about, the movie starts with a death and incidentally ends with another one and in between it captures the bustling metropolis of the 1980s, living, breathing and pulsating through a handful of protagonists. The film after it got premiered at the Venice International Film Festival became the talk of the town but very soon the craze got over unexpectedly. The film directed by Aditya Vikram Sengupta.

Runanubandha

Directed by an independent filmmaker Amartya Bhattacharyya which was screened at Nandan for two weeks which was very unsatisfied. The film was based on father-daughter imaginary relationship through the poetic muse that also in a strange city, but it failed miserably to grab the attention of the audience.
