Bulli Bai controversy: Prime accused detained from Uttarakhand and co-accused from Bengaluru 



21-year-old engineering student Vishal Kumar from Bengaluru along with a woman from Uttarakhand listed more than 100 influential Muslim woman photographs for auction on the Bulli Bai app. After 10 hours of questioning by the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell, DCP Rashmi Karandikar Kumar was later sent to police custody till January 10. “Kumar opened an account by the name of Khalsa supremacist. 

On December 31, he changed the names of other accounts to resemble Sikh names. Fake Khalsa account holders were shown,” the Mumbai Police said, the women listed on the website included a 65-year-old mother of a disappeared Indian student as well as Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai. 

After June on Thursday India crossed 1 lakh daily COVID cases 



India’s daily cases cross 1 lakh up from 10,000 in just 8 days, Maharashtra and Delhi remain on top for daily cases count, this surge began just after Christmas where the rate of daily cases rise from 35% to 56% in between 28th of December till Wednesday respectively. As per data, the current rate of growth appears to be five times faster than it was at the beginning of the second wave which later peaked at over 4 lakh daily cases. 

Meanwhile, death figures remain low in the last few days. On Thursday, 97 deaths were recorded, staying below the 100 mark for the second straight day after having risen to 112 on Tuesday. 

NEET counselling has to begin in “national interest”: SC 



On Thursday, Counselling for NEET-PG courses has to begin in the national interest, the Supreme Court said, on the basis of its July 29, 2021 notification now granting 10% reservation to the economically weaker section (EWS) and 27% quota for other backward classes (OBC) in the All-India Quota (AQI) seats. 

On Friday bench of justices Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud and AS Bopanna who were hearing the matter for the last two consecutive days said: “In national interest, counselling has to begin”. 

The admissions for postgraduate medical courses have been held up due to a plea challenging the fixing of Rs 8 lakh as income criteria to determine the quota for economically weaker section (EWS) students. 

Dussen and Dean batting gives South Africa victory, won by 7 wickets

The next match is going to start on 11 January which is going to be an interesting one as right now the scoreboard is 1-1. 

Legislative Assembly Polls in five states from February 10 



On Saturday Election commission announce the dates of the Legislative assembly election in Punjab, Uttarakhand, UP, Manipur and Goa. Polls will be held between February 10 and March 7, and results are expected to be on the 10th of march. 

In five states elections will be held for 690 assembly seats and 18.3 crore people including 8.5 crore women will be eligible to cast their vote. In Uttar Pradesh election will be held in seven phases for 403 assembly seats, for Manipur election will be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3 for 60 assembly seats, meanwhile Uttarakhand for 70 seats, Punjab for 117 seats and Goa for 40 seats.
