The first relationship that needs to be perfected is the one with self. Relationship with oneself is the building block of relationships with others.

In this early Twenty-first Century, where non-familial relationships have become expendable, it is essential to have a solid foundation in a relationship. Having strong fundaments in a relationship makes them long-term and less vulnerable.

It is a well-known fact that to blend the perfect concoction, and all the individual components need to be compatible and equal, so none overpowers the other. A healthy relationship is no different. Both the parties need to be congruous and should see each other as equals. So, before building a relationship with any other individual, it is crucial to a healthy and robust relationship with oneself.

The first step of building the foundation of a healthy self-relationship is prioritizing self-care. Self-care not just entitles physical care but mental and emotional health as well. The inner and outer self should be in perfect harmony with each other for a healthy state of mind. A healthy lifestyle can achieve physical health.

A healthful lifestyle involves a healthy relationship with food and fitness. Self-relationship also requires a sense of fulfillment towards oneself. Instead of feeling discouraged by the absence or lack of something, one should appreciate the presence of something.

Acceptance is the foundation of a healthy self-relationship. For a healthy self-relationship, one must accept their true self without destructive criticism, feel gratitude, avoid toxicity, and take responsibility for their action. Self-care is self-preservation, not self-indulgence or narcissism.

Having a healthy relationship with oneself clarifies and simplifies things in life and will give a clear perception of other relationships. So, it is imperative to have a thriving relationship with oneself before contemplating any other relationship.
